At Pediatric Associates of New Bedford, we believe that timely and complete vaccination is one of the most important steps in protecting your child’s health and the well-being of our community.
We strongly support the safety, effectiveness, and importance of all routine childhood immunizations. Our practice follows the vaccination schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH). These guidelines are based on decades of medical research and real-world data.
While we understand that parents may have questions or concerns, we do not support the use of alternative or delayed vaccine schedules. Such schedules are not supported by scientific evidence and leave children and those around them at greater risk of preventable disease.
We welcome open dialogue about vaccines and are happy to address your questions. However, in order to maintain a safe environment for all of our patients, we have an expectation for the adherence to the routine immunization schedule.
In addition, our practice does not accept new families who decline vitamin K administration at birth for their newborns, which is essential, evidence-based medical treatments to prevent serious health risks.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s care.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) believes that immunizations are the safest and most cost-effective way of preventing disease, disability, and death. We urge parents to make sure that their children are immunized against dangerous childhood diseases since it is always better to prevent a disease than to have to treat it or live with the consequences of having it. On-time vaccination throughout childhood is essential because it helps provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases. Vaccines are tested to ensure that they are safe and effective for children to receive at the recommended ages.
